Prayer: God of hope, in a world that thirsts for you, fill us with your hope as we think on your goodness, grace and mercy. Amen
Advent is a season of waiting. Israel was waiting hundreds of years for a Messiah, a savior.
Ice Breaker: What are you excited for, or waiting for this Christmas season?
Scripture: Psalm 63:1-5. 1O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. 2So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory. 3Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. 4So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands. 5My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips.
Discussion:
David wrote this Psalm, he was a man who was constantly seeking God. From this Psalm, what do you think David was waiting/hoping for?
If you were in a dry and weary land, or a desert, what would you be thirsty for?
Can you find three things that describe God in this passage?

God of Hope, as we long to celebrate the birth of your Son Jesus at Christmas time, we praise you and thank you for your power, glory, and steadfast love. Give us hearts to seek you and remember the true meaning of Christmas.
